Three relatives were arrested by Chandler police on Thursday in connection with a retail theft ring, ending a three-month investigation into an operation that involved thefts from two Valley grocery stores.  Police arrested brothers Sami Shiha, 32, and Samer Shiha, 23, and their cousin Hane Shiha, 32, on suspicion of stolen property-related offenses and conducting an illegal criminal enterprise, according to information from Chandler police…

Miami Burglary Ring Busted

Authorities say they’ve busted up a massive Miami-based burglary ring that raked in over $6 million in stolen jewelry in the past two years. Eight South Floridians are facing charges in the crime ring, which targeted jewelry stores and pawn shops in six states, including Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Connecticut, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced Wednesday.  The burglary crews would cut holes in the roofs of stores, disable alarms and surveillance systems and use torches to access safes, authorities said. June 15th Greater DeWitt Retail Theft Coalition/Partners with InfraGard to fight Organized Retail Crime in CNY

InfraGard will be announcing the new Commercial Sector Chiefs from both the Private and Public Sectors focusing on Organized Retail Crime in CNY at the June 15th Meeting! 

From the Public Sector -the Syracuse PD, the Onondaga Crime Analysis Center, Manlius Police Department and Camillus Police Department have joined to support the program.

From the Private Secor – we welcome new members from Walmart’s 12 Regional Stores, Kinney Drugs, RiteAid, Great Northern Mall, Shoppingtown Mall, Wegmans, and Zales to the program this month.

A website has been created and is maintained by the Town of DeWitt Police Department for retail establishments throughout DeWitt and Central NY.  http://greaterdewittrtc.com/Home_Page.php 

The GDRTC was formed to assist retail establishments in combating theft on all levels with the following goals:           

  • Prevent and deter retail theft
  • Exchange and share information on retail theft suspects
  • Track and share information on organized theft rings
  • Provide education and training for retail establishments in areas of theft and fraud
