Homeland Security – Self-Study Courses @ no cost!

The Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security offers non-credit, self-study courses online. These courses are developed by the NPS CHDS teaching faculty and are derived from course content (lecture material and course readings) from the Center’s homeland security master’s degree curriculum. The courses, offered at no cost, are designed for homeland defense and security professionals who wish to enhance their understanding of key homeland security concepts and require the flexibility of self-paced instruction. NPS does not provide graduate credit for the courses; however, participants are encouraged to check with their professional associations regarding continuing education units/credits. Upon completing each course, participants can download a record of completion.

June 15th Greater DeWitt Retail Theft Coalition/Partners with InfraGard to fight Organized Retail Crime in CNY

InfraGard will be announcing the new Commercial Sector Chiefs from both the Private and Public Sectors focusing on Organized Retail Crime in CNY at the June 15th Meeting! 

From the Public Sector -the Syracuse PD, the Onondaga Crime Analysis Center, Manlius Police Department and Camillus Police Department have joined to support the program.

From the Private Secor – we welcome new members from Walmart’s 12 Regional Stores, Kinney Drugs, RiteAid, Great Northern Mall, Shoppingtown Mall, Wegmans, and Zales to the program this month.

A website has been created and is maintained by the Town of DeWitt Police Department for retail establishments throughout DeWitt and Central NY.  http://greaterdewittrtc.com/Home_Page.php 

The GDRTC was formed to assist retail establishments in combating theft on all levels with the following goals:           

  • Prevent and deter retail theft
  • Exchange and share information on retail theft suspects
  • Track and share information on organized theft rings
  • Provide education and training for retail establishments in areas of theft and fraud
